finep supported Civil20-Process in Hamburg

(19.06.2017) With the close of the C20 Summit in Hamburg/ Germany on Monday the international civil society handed over their communique to German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. It stipulates the expectations formulated by 450 civil society representatives from more than 60 countries towards die G20 and the G20 Summit in the beginning of July.  The Civil20 Summit is the highlight of a six months consultation process within the worldwide civil society. The Civil 20 (C20) are an association of international civil society organisations. The C20 accompany the G20 by reflecting on globally relevant topics and thus give the international civil society a common voice. The Civil20 developed their positions in six international working groups in the last few months. In the context of the German G20 presidency, the German NGO Forum on Environment and Development "Forum Umwelt und Entwicklung" and the umbrella organisation of development and humanitarian aid non-governmental organisations in Germany "VENRO" coordinate the dialogue between the German and international civil society with the Federal Government of Germany. finep supported the process development and funding efforts of the process. Furthermore, finep managing director Ralph Griese moderated the international working group conference in February 2017 in Berlin and the Civil20 Summit in Hamburg on 18 and 19 June 2017.
